Our Story
2009
Julia Evans, an organic livestock farmer on the Herefordshire/
Worcestershire borders, survives an aggressive breast cancer and resolves to do more than just farm on her own.
2010
Longlands is founded with just 3 students.

2016
Julia Evans is voted national winner of BBC Countryfile Farming Hero Award.

2017
Princess Anne visits Longlands
and meets our students
as part of our Riding for Disabled
25 year celebrations.
2018
‘Game of Thrones’ star Kit Harington chooses to support us by becoming Patron, visiting the farm and chatting informally with students.

2020
Social Farms and Gardens film at Longlands as part of a ‘best practice’ video and Longlands welcomes its 100th student.
​
2021
We move into our new Roundhouse headquarters.
National Lottery funds a specialist Mental Health Practitioner.
​
2025
Now supporting 30 students each week, with a wide range of skills on offer.
